Kwabena Kusi-Appouh

Illustrator & Educator

Kwame Nkrumah University

Kwabena was born on the 17th of October, 1960 in the city of Kumasi, capital of the Asante Kingdom. He spent his early childhood in London. A Hybrib fantasy world was nurtured in him as a child day dreamer growing up in London encompassing his African roots and exposure to Western culture and this reflected in his fantasy tales years later. From mastering his native language to learning much about his native culture - folktales the most fascinating being the tales of Africa’s Spider Man that existed eons before Marvel, Africa’s Mysterious Mmoatia of the Forest, Elf like beings, Monsters like the Sasabonsam, Gbeishiorkor the Giant Cyclops - Africa seemed to have answers to all the popular fantasy Characters of the Western World. Out of this would be born the KUJU ADVENTURES a fantasy series of Graphic Novels created in 1974 at the age of 14. Six titles that have been done, three published on Amazon’s Kindle platform.

His style of storytelling he would describe as Telling the African story the Hollywood way. Flying saucers would be replaced by flying pots magically commandeered by African triplet children, planets in outer space would be replaced by African parallel dimensions, African Monsters, Ogres dwarfs, Elfs.

The rest of his stories speak for themselves.
